Founded in 2003, Flight to Mars, a tribute to the 70’s rock band UFO, features Pearl Jam lead guitarist Mike McCready.
Each year Flight to Mars puts on an annual benefit concert. This year there were two events at the Showbox in Seattle on May 1st and 2nd. Proceeds from the show benefited the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America’s Camp Oasis program. Many Pearl Jam fans from around the country (and world) visit Seattle to attend the benefit to enjoy good music and see friends.
Pearl Jam Fan Portraits took Fan Portraits each day before the two shows. We also took Mike McCready’s Fan Portrait, which we will be posting soon!

CCFA’s Camp Oasis is a co-ed residential camp program that’s mission is to enrich the lives of children with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis by providing a safe and supportive camp community. For more information: www.ccfa.org/kidsteens/
In 2002 McCready made public his 20-year battle with Crohn’s Disease and ulcerative colitis and has since been committed to raising awareness and funding for CCFA. “As a patient living with Crohn’s and colitis, the CCFA has played a huge part in helping me get the support and information that I need,” says McCready. “I’m grateful that my band mates and friends can support and join me for a night of music and fun that will help us find a cure for these debilitating diseases.”
UFO band members also include Tim DiJulio (guitar), Gary Westlake (bass), Mike Musburger (drums) and Paul Passereli (vocals).
